End of the Term!!!

Today we went to a Marae. A Marae is where you celebrate like Birthdays, Weddings and other kinds of fun things. To me, I think Maori is apart of my culture because I am Maori too. In the morning, we started to get ready. When all of us went on the bus, we had to stay on the bu for 40 mins till we get there. We went past Wigram mostly. When we got there, the people was doing a huge welcoming for us. They told us to go inside the Marae and then they told us to sit down because they where about to begin a play. It was about Maui finding his mother. The second one was Maui finding his father.  Maui is the son of Taranga, the wife of Makeatutara. He has a miraculous birth – his mother threw her premature infant into the sea wrapped in a tress of hair from her topknot (tikitiki) – hence Māui is known as Māui-tikitiki-a-Taranga. That was the story of Maui. How Maui found his Father and the Magic Jawbone is the story of how Maui wonders where his mother goes each evening. One night he follows her and finds she visits his father, and the family is reunited. Maui then meets his grandfather, and secures his jawbone, which has magical properties. Hope you had a great holiday!!!
